MEMBERSHIP

The AMSC is an inclusive organisation that welcomes application of membership from medical practitioners and all other Medicare Australia-recognised professionals, including but not limited to: National Law regulated/registered healthcare practitioners (through Ahpra), Medicare Australia-recognised health professionals, biomedical researchers, academics, medical administrators and practice management staff. Any profession deemed to be significant for the advancement of biomedical science and healthcare shall be included in our ranks.

Registered Healthcare Practitioners refer to registered practitioners as recognised and regulated under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme and the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioner, Chinese medicine practitioner, chiropractor, dental practitioner, medical practitioner, medical radiation practitioner, nurse, midwife, occupational therapist, optometrist, osteopath, paramedic, pharmacist, physiotherapist, podiatrist and psychologist.

Medicare Australia-Recognised Health Professionals refer to other related health professionals including but not limited to: exercise physiologists, social workers, mental health workers, audiologists, diabetes educators, dietitians and speech pathologists.

Ordinary Members*

Ordinary Members (MAMSC) include eligible medical and health professionals as listed above.

Associate Members*

Associate Members include eligible retired medical and health professionals, overseas-trained medical and health professionals who intend to register for practice in Australia and other professionals who wish to support our initiatives. 

Student Members 

Student Members include eligible students who belong to any of the professions listed above, and are entitled to complimentary membership for the duration of their studies. Student Members shall be required to apply for membership as an Ordinary Member upon attainment of their intended qualifications. New graduates are eligible for a two-year Ordinary Membership from the date of first registration or attainment of qualifications without incurring membership fees for the second year. 

Corporate Members*

Corporate Members include eligible business entities, industry partners and clinics wishing to support AMSC initiatives. 

Life Members*

Life Members include founding members and Ordinary Members who have exhibited outstanding leadership, sustained commitment and service to the AMSC beyond the formal requirements of their position, subject to eligibility criteria, and may only be nominated by two (2) other Life Members.

  • The AMSC Membership year runs from 1 July-30 June of the following year.

  • Members from now until 30 June 2024 shall receive complimentary extension of their membership to 30 June 2025. 

  • All membership applications require nomination by two (2) Ordinary Members with the exception of Student and Life Membership categories.

Fellowship of the Australasian Medical Services Coalition*

Fellowship of the Australasian Medical Services Coalition (FAMSC) is an honour of the highest distinction awarded to eligible Ordinary or Life Members who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and excellence in practice, and/or made outstanding contributions to health, medicine, philantropy and the community at large.

Honorary Membership

Honorary Membership is awarded in recognition of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to AMSC.

*Ordinary, Associate, Corporate and Life Members, as well as Fellows of the Australasian Medical Services Coalition are entitled to use post-nominal letters subject to AMSC Conditions of Use.
